That is the Malaysian orchid mantis (Hymenopus Coronatus). The hatchlings are bright red and black colour. As they mature, the colour becomes white with pinkish tinge. The colour is due to the fact they camouflage themselves among orchids, that's how the name came about.

You can try searching for them in orchid/light coloured flower growing areas. Can find them in Maxwell Hill and cameron highlands. The orchid mantis in the Penang Butterfly farm is caught from Cameron Highlands area. Try ur luck these holidays..

It is an insect. But it is not a butterfly. It feeds on other insects such as crickets and grasshoppers.. It is carnivorous while the butterfly feeds on nectar of flowers.

Haiya, Adel, oredi confirmed earlier the fact they have the orchid mantis, which was sourced from kimaloon.. Difficult to breed leh... with so many close up lense upon them. they r shy leh... ka ka ka..
